If you’ve put off dentistry due to fear and apprehension, we have some great solutions—sedation dentistry! Depending on a patients apprehension level, we can recommend Gas Sedation, Oral Conscious Sedation or IV Sedation
Gas Sedation: Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective sedative agent that is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small mask that fits over your nose to help you relax. This option is also known as “laughing gas”. You will be conscious and able to hear and respond to your surroundings. This is a great option if you want to feel calm and comfortable in the dentist chair.
Oral Conscious Sedation: This technique is usually for the mild to moderately anxious patient. It is simple, safe and effective! A pill is taken about an hour before the dental visit. Once you arrive at the dental office, you’re placed in a special chair for enhanced comfort. Your drowsiness is then assessed. We will monitor all vital signs with a pulse oximeter to ensure a safe visit. Most patients have little memory of the procedure.
IV Sedation: If a patient has severe anxiety, this sedation option can be very effective. An anesthesiologist will sedate you so that you’re truly asleep. He will also monitor all vital signs while you are asleep to ensure a safe visit.
Whatever option you choose, multiple visits can be condensed into a single safe and comfortable visit.
